WhatsApp API & Templates

To send outbound messages and maintain high-quality communication on WhatsApp, Texterz uses the official Meta Business API.

Message Templates

Meta requires pre-approved templates for any message that initiates a conversation or is sent outside of the 24-hour service window.

Template Categories

  1. Marketing: Promotional offers, product announcements, and abandoned cart reminders.
  2. Utility: Specific updates about a transaction, account, or request (e.g., appointment reminders).
  3. Authentication: One-time passwords (OTPs) for logging in.

Variable Mapping

Templates use placeholders like {{1}}, {{2}}. In Texterz, you map these to your contact data:

  • {{1}}Contact Name
  • {{2}}Company Name
  • {{3}}Appointment Time

The 24-Hour Service Window

The service window is a key concept in WhatsApp Business:

  • Opening the Window: The window opens when a customer sends a message to your business.
  • Inside the Window: The Texterz AI Agent can send free-form messages (no templates needed).
  • Closing the Window: The window closes 24 hours after the customer's last message.
  • Re-opening: To speak to the customer after 24 hours, you must send another approved Template Message.

Quality Rating & Limits

Meta monitors the "Quality Rating" of your templates based on customer feedback (e.g., if users click "Report Spam").

  • High Quality: Continuous messaging.
  • Low Quality: Meta may pause the template or limit the number of messages you can send per day.
