SMS Channel

Texterz supports SMS for high-impact communication and proactive lead engagement.

1. Primary Use Cases

  • Outbound Campaigns: Send proactive text messages to lead lists.
  • Appointment Reminders: Notify users about upcoming meetings booked via the agent.
  • Urgent Alerts: Reach users who may not be checking email or social apps.

2. Compliance & Regulations

SMS is a highly regulated channel. To maintain high deliverability:

  • Explicit Opt-in: You must have verifiable consent from users before sending SMS messages.
  • Opt-out Mechanism: Every SMS must include instructions on how to unsubscribe (e.g., "Reply STOP to cancel").
  • Local Rules: Be aware of country-specific rules (e.g., 10DLC in the US).

3. How it Works

When an agent is connected to the SMS channel:

  1. Incoming SMS: The message is routed to the AI agent.
  2. AI Response: The agent generates a concise, text-only response.
  3. Carrier Delivery: The response is sent back via our SMS gateway provider.

4. Limitations

  • Text Only: SMS does not support rich media (images, videos). For media support, use WhatsApp.
  • Character Limits: Standard SMS messages are limited to 160 characters. Longer messages will be split into multiple segments, consuming more credits.
  • Concise Prompting: We recommend enabling the "Concise Responses" toggle in your Bot Settings for the SMS channel.
